Despite his challenges, Iverson managed to become a star basketball player. He led his high school team to the state championship, and he was named the Virginia High School Player of the Year. Iverson then went on to play college basketball at Georgetown University. He was a two-time All-American, and he led the Hoyas to the NCAA Final Four in 1996.
